Resolutions 2011?

Three words - Save, Plan & EXERCISE.

1. Save
Saving $$kachings$$ of course. Need lots of buckaroos for the big day. Wasting $$ unnecessarily for my wedding is not in my plan list, tfore i'm planning to do lots of DIY here & there to save costs. Nevertheless, catering itself needs a whole BIG sum of moolahs so SAVE is a must this year. 60% of the BIG FAT "B" which i'm getting this year will be going to the kahwin fund. Sigh. A mature act which i've decided to make (mcm paham).

Side note : One way to save extra bucks is to avoid cab rides to work. ($30/trip is a BIG FAT hole in MY pocket!) Proud to say, up to date i've only taken the cab to work ONCE! A small step taken is better than none, right?

Synonyms - Money = $$, kachings, buckaroos, moolahs, bucks.
5 ways to define it. HAHA!

2. Plan
Even though we're planning to get hitch late next year, its better to plan wayyy in advance rather than to rush it all at the very end, right? Plus, advance booking is required for EVERYTHING nowadays. Headache!

3. Exercise
Am i that FAT? Nahh. I dont think so. I refused to accept the fact when my (irritating) brother Afiq says that I'M FAT. ME FAT!? He needs a pair of glasses. HAHAHA! I'm of an acceptable weight, tall & slender (masuk bakul angkat sendiri! kekekeke! what!? at least i say i'm slender, not SEXY okay! O_O). I just need to exercise to stay healthy, firm up these flabby arms, thighs & tummy. Flabby does not mean i'm fat u know! Call me fat, I'LL PUNCH YOUR FACE! (wah so fierce!) LOL!

It's never easy to get a "perfect" picture with him.

Definition of my PERFECT? Him willingly & not irritated by the fact that we're about to take a picture, getting himself ready to take a picture & smiling from ear to ear (okay this is just exaggarating).

The outcome, this is the face that i will ALWAYS get from him.
(btw, i was trying to look as fierce as him but i think i look constipated :S)

In the end, i will tend to camwhore alone, all by myself, no one to smile with me....
(pasrah lah konon. puik!)

Anyway, the purpose of this entry isn't about HIM not being able to smile just because he thinks he need to "save" his sweet smile for our WEDDING DAY!!!! (yes, i've asked him before what's with the fierce look & that was his "reason" for not smiling. CUTE KAN TUNANG AKU!) :P

This year's Syawal was kind of short for me. Didn't feel the usual atmosphere cause firstly, my first brother is doing his national service and that he's either not with the family when we're out raya-ing or he's not at home when guests came over. Secondly, with my sister being pregnant, one of the raya weekend was used up for a "doa selamat" for her 7mths pregnancy. So i sadly had to miss the tweetloves "Walking with Dinosaurs" raya outing. :(

Getting Selesa with the "in-laws" 040910

Iftar with the future "in-laws" last Saturday at Hotel Selesa (my 2nd time there this Ramadhan). This time, i knew what i wanted to eat, moderately that is.

After which, we headed to Pandan City for some major shopping.
Major for me, not for the rest. :P

And i've finally tasted the current craze, Twist Potato! Malaysia version.

8 Must-See @ Geylang v.2010

Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them.

The family & me went to Geylang last Thursday to see-see,look-look, buy-buy, (you will end up buying something no matter how hard u try to control) some stuffs for raya.

Walking around the bazaar & shopping centre makes me realise that every year, there's always a distinct "thing" which you will have to see to complete your trip to Geylang. And when something new is being introduce, they will start to sprout like wild mushrooms & you will be able to find it everywhere around the bazaar for the whole month or even in time to come.

Here's a list of 7 "items" which comes to MY mind (new & old) when i step into Geylang this year v.2010.

1. Shooting Range

Are you a marksman? If you are (or if you THINK you are), maybe you should give a try at the "Shooting Range" & win yourself a lava lamp. Or if you're not interested in the lava lamps (which i currently am actually cause they look so COOL!), you could also win for yourself some ~~stupid~~ mini soft toy etc. $3 for 8pellets, $4 for 11 pellets, $5 for... they sure are earning A LOT i tell you.

And i specifically told them both to try get the lava lamp.
But, they were no marksman. :P

2. Freaky Upin & Ipin

Big headed balloons in the shape of the boys known for their catchy line "betul betul betul", some wearing their usual singlets with a capital U for Upin & I for Ipin while others are dress in baju kurung complete with a songkok. These balloons makes an irritating high pitch squeaking sound when bend & with the freaky huge head, it completes the look. Haha.

3. Afro Hair Guy

Who wouldn't be able to spot this tall man, with a huge tangled afro hair, reminding me of the Alleycats *sings ~ sampai kan lah salam cinta ku padanya...". I believe he has a booth somewhere in Geylang. And that night, we overheard a makcik saying, "Ni lelaki yang masa tu kat Changi General Hospital kan?"

Told u his hair is his TRADEMARK. :P

4. Lap-Lip-Lap Booth

A form of deco which will always boost up the mood for raya. Lil bro was asking for it & since mak is always willing to entertain his antics & meet his demands, we were there to buy new lap-lip.

Now, they even have lap-lip plant.

5. Superstar(s)

This is a must see at Geylang. Spot ONE artist, that means you have not completely walk around Geylang. Spot a flock of them (dah mcm burung lah pulak), that means they are having an iftar together lah. What else you want? :P

And after i spoke to the mamat jual dengdeng,

Abah: Lelaki tu siapa?
Me: Huh? Mamat jual dengdeng lah.
Abah: Tu kan football player Singapore.
Me: Iye ke? *paisey*

Abah: Tak main olympic ke?
Player (idk his name *paisey lagik*): Tu umur 15tahun ke bawah ah bang.
Abah: Lain kali umur tu jangan makin naik, biar makin turun bagus.
Player: Insya-allah lain kali saya try eh. Haha.

My father, the joker. -_-"

6. Deng Deng

And talking about the mamat dengdeng, this hot favourite food item is a must buy at bazaar Geylang every fasting month. Always a best selling item, even though the qty seems to be much more for 100g on normal days. Hmm...

7. TAA

You WILL see Tabung Amal Aidilfitri (TAA) everywhere in Geylang. If you don't, then you must have purposely blinded your eyes for a split second. Guilty? So the next time you see one, please donate no matter how small the amount is.

Abah told us to donate at least $10 each. Not only did bro donated, he also doa for the less fortunate. Doa sahur, doa buka & doa makan. Haha!

He's not like his brother, he doesn't want his picture to be taken.

8. Golden Chance

This is random. Geylang reminds me of Golden Chance. Golden Chance reminds me of Geylang. That's it.

Initial plan was a short trip to Desaru, which changes to Tioman, but in the end we all gathered by the beach at Pasir Ris Park, SINGAPORE on that long National Day weekend. Tiga minggu (tiga ke empat eh?) berturut-turut, masa hanya dapat diluangkan pada hujung minggu. Hari biasa, berlalu begitu sahaja.

Batam (Makan) Getaway!

A weekend getaway to Batam with the fiance & future in-laws just to shop, eat, eat, eat & eat somemore. :)

Here was our itinerary.

Day 1

Brunch at Mega Mall Batam Centre at 12pm

Followed by shopping & later checking-in at Puri Garden Hotel at 3pm.

Dinner at 5pm

Then shop again after dinner.

Best Fried Chicken Supper at 10pm
Day 2

Yucky hotel Breakfast at 8am

2nd round of Breakfast at 10am :)

More shopping after breakfast.

Ice-cream Break at 11.30am
Then back to hotel to pack our bags.

Compulsary JCo Doughnut Break at 1pm
Final shopping at Mega Mall Batam Centre.

Ayam Penyet Ria Lunch ~~again~~ at 3pm
Finally, home sweet home at 5pm.

Told u there were lots of EATING involved. Hehe!

Let's get straight to the entry aite! :)

First & foremost, i would like to say Thank YOU to both my parents & siblings. Mak made a good choice in deciding to order the buffet spread from that caterer cause the food was superb!

My parents are the pillar of strength in my life. And without their blessings, none of this is possible. Love my family truckloads!

Second, i would like to say Thank YOU to girlfren Yana & hubby Fad. Thanks for designing my invitation card, the cupcakes & being by my side for the whole event gf. Thanks to her hubby Fad for wanting to be my photographer for the day. Mak commented that he was good cause he not only takes pictures of me but he also got the initiative to go around & take pictures of others. Two thumbs up!

Thirdly, i would like to say Thank YOU to DiahMastura & NurulAini from Studioperfect for of course, making me BEAUTIFUL! The positive comments & reactions from others on how stunning I look that day was heartwarming & priceless. For once I was on cloud nine, receiving compliments after compliments from family & friends. And I’m not making this up to say that I AM beautiful, but a good make-up can do wonders!

Next, i would like to say Thank YOU to nenek, aunts, uncles, cousins & friends who took some time off from their busy schedule to attend my engagement. To those who assist one way or another during my engagement reception & making sure it all went well (you know who you are), i love you all. Your presence was highly appreciated. :)

Last but not least, i would like to say my BIGgest THANK YOU to that special someone cause without you, all these would have not come true. After being together for almost 6yrs, I was really touched & happy that you have finally open your heart to take another step further for our future. No words can explain how happy I am for this & insya-allah we will go through all obstacles along the way together, come what may. ily.

04th June 2010 - Mok-ster turns a quarter century OLD!

Coincidentally, i've got 5 Part Special for his birthday this year.
Some pre-plan, some just happens at the very last minute.
(Kononnye twentyFIVE years old, so 5 PART SPECIAL ah. ok whatever!)

Part 1 - Desigual

Went out a week before his birthday & bought him that ~~EXPENSIVE $124!!~~ Desigual shirt which he had been eyeing for quite a while.
(Boipren nak gi dating on his bday nanti takde baju so belikan ah. touching eh!)

Part 2 - Cake Surprise
---
Call up a few of his friends at the very last minute on the evening of his birthday cause i felt bad knowing that he did not get any cake on his birthday. Plan everything at 8.30pm, rush out to get THE CAKE, gathered his friends by 10.30pm and then we WAIT! What were we waiting for u may ask? We were waiting for him to walk to his car so that we can surprise him there & then. But.... end up the plan change but we did surprise him though. The not so best part, he actually already got 2(!!) birthday cake before mine. ~~Pfft!~~ Oh well.

Part 3 - Bean Bag

Another random gift which i "DIY" myself. He's (sort of) been wanting a bean bag, so i saw an offer on the bean bag, bought the bean bag beads, add a special touch by ~~ironing-on~~ putting his initials on it and there u go, his very own bean bag. :)

Part 4 - Dinner at Carousel

A birthday is always incomplete without a scrumptuous meal to satisfy the tummy (well, at least that's what MY tummy says). So i treat him to a buffetlicious spread at Carousel!

This is the touching part, part 5 is about being able to get engage to me.... NOT! (haha. ok lame!) I'll be giving him one more (or should i say two more) "items" on our engagement day as part of his gifts. Couldn't say what it is yet cause it'll spoil the excitement. Due to lack of publicity & no blogshop or online shopping domain wants us as their Next Top Model, we had to find our own way to showcase our beauty & talent. (Like real only!)

So we went to a "Facebook Profile Photo Party", paid 10bucks & got our ~~mostly~~ krazie & non-krazie portfolio pictures taken (actually we got our pictures taken first, then we pay. ok watever. who cares!).

One word to describe this photography session, MADNESS!

Engagement Entry 1 : No, i'm not COMPLAINING.

As much as i want THE BIG DAY to come by quickly (cause i'm super-duper excited that it's going to be MY day, and dear's of course), it's also sad that my weekends are being used up preparing for it.

No, i'm not complaining.

Preparing for an engagement shouldn't be that tedious / difficult / TIRING, RIGHT!?

WRONG!

No, i'm not complaining.

A SIMPLE ENGAGEMENT i.e. invite family members, simple buffet spread, 3-4 trays of gubahans, wear baju kurung, make yourself up, have some of the guy's side family over, put the ring on my finger *if u like it then u should have put a ring on it, if u like it then u should have put a ring on it* (sidetrack), THE END.

But NO! Mine is not THAT simple.

No, i'm not complaining.

This is MY ENGAGEMENT:-

1. Invitation card - I have a VERY big family, from parent's siblings to my cousins who is married with kids. Inviting them ALL (including friends) is important cause we, as a big family are fond of having "gatherings". We LOVE it. Therefore, invitation card is a good method for keeping track of the no. of pax. Furthermore, it's more polite or should i say courteous to invite them through cards.
(Well, at least that's what my parents say.)

2. Buffet spread - My mum is fickle-minded on this part. An easy way out for me is just to order from a caterer. (But NOoooo..) Mum wanted to consider cooking on her own (with the help of my aunties of course) cause she thinks that firstly, it's wayyy cheaper & secondly the satisfying feeling of cooking on your own (like real only) & being able to gather everyone (rewang-rewang) is much more fun. My opinion? Everyone (including me) will be so tired whats more with the mess that we're going to make! But in the end, as long as my mum is happy, i'm happy. :)

3. Gubahan - I'm quite excited on doing this. This is like a challenge. A competition between me and dear. For example, both of us will be making a treasure chest gubahan each and we will have the others to judge which gubahan is the nicest. I've done mine btw and when dear came over to my place, open my fridge HE SAW IT! Copycat! (At least there's something FUN to look forward to. Hehe!)

4. Outfit & MakeUp - There were a few options on this part. Outfit - to make, to buy or to rent. I chose the latter cause to make, there isn't much time and to buy, ready-made usually don't fit me well. So i've got an offer which i would say is a good bargain (i even ask others for opinions on this), with everything included and so i took it. (One item on my "Things To Do" list - DONE!)

5. Etc - This includes berkat, cleaning up my room, rental of table & chairs, buying utencils, etc etc etc and the list goes on and on. My DIY berkat of cupcakes made up of towels is i would say, so far so good and my room is 80% clean. The rest of the etc, i leave them to my parents (someone have to do it, right?).

No, i'm not complaining.

Up till today, i'm embracing every moment. From the day that he told me that WE ARE GETTING ENGAGE (HURRAY!) till THE BIG DAY comes by, i'm going to enjoy every second of it. There seems to be lots to do (No, i'm not complaining) but i'm grateful that i have my family and of course, my dear, to make it all happen.

Many more people to say my thanks to, but i'll save it all for a special entry.

Hair Band Wire Telephone

Have u ever seen these *points to below picture* before?

I'm sure many of u have seen these telephone wire lookalike hair band.
(Let's call them Wire Band = WB)
And so u may ask, why am i blogging about WB?
Cause i'm too free like that & i just feel like blogging, can or not?

I was tying my hair up yesterday evening using one of these WB. When i look at myself in the mirror hair all tied up, it sort of looks nice cause the gaps in between the WB makes you have this sort of wave around it (ok whatever). Even though the WB give your hair a firm tight grip (and sometimes it even hurt when it's TOO tight), i guess it is a good kind of band cause it doesn't break easily.

Who in this world even thought of making such a band which looks like a telephone wire!? From my research (Google is my one & only trusted & reliable source for research), these WB first started from China. Maybe the person who created/invented it run out of hair/rubber band when she(or he) desperately wanted to tie up her(or his) hair, thus the next closest thing available at that point of time was the telephone wire. So she(or he) pulled out the telephone wire & start to tie it around her(or his) hair!
(haha. imaginations run wild!)

Anyway, i've notice that teens nowadays have this new trend of making these WB as a bracelet. Colourful bracelet. All the different colours around their wrist pink, blue, red, black, u name it they've got it! I did once put it around my wrist & all it did was to leave red painful marks.

As for the cost (see, i'm even giving u info abt the cost of these WB. that's how free i am!), it ranges from 20cents to $1.00(!!). I bought my WB some time back at $1.00 EACH! A few days later, i saw them being sold at a pasar malam for only 20cents each! Some pasar malam even sell a whole bunch for only $1.00! Yes, i was cheated. So now u know the REAL reason why i'm blogging on these WB. -_-

The purpose of this update? There's no purpose actually. Just want to get back into this blogging thingy. On the first day of christmas...

I think i'm better at doing back to back updates, (just plain lazy actually) so here i am doing it for November & December, up till today that is...

Hmmm, so let's see...

There was the wedding of (should i say) distant cousin Jeffri & Shabarilah. The solemnization was on 07/11/09 & wedding reception on 08/11/09. As usual, we ate and karaokay-ed, and ate and karaokay-ed, and of course took lots of pictures! Oh well, what's new..

On 14/11/09, i had a date with my very own sister. Where to? The National Stadium. Ouh yes, you read it right. She dated me to watch Singapore vs Thailand, in which Singapore lost btw, & we were there since 3pm if i remembered correctly. Long story short, we watched the game for FREE! Call us "budget-jonet", but FREE is a good thing, in case any of you didnt know.

Next is one of my favourite outings, Delifrance breakfast date with the GGs on 22/11/09. The usual gossiping, giggling, cam-whoring & all the many things in which girls do. It's a girl thing.

Mak turn 48yrs old on 23/11/09 but we had an advance birthday dinner the day before. The family & not forgetting bro-in-law, had dinner at Sedap Rasa Indon-Thai Muslim Seafood Restaurant. A scrumptuous spread is what we had & happy tummy is what we left the place with.

Then came Hari Raya Haji. As what we usually do every year, we gathered at nenek's place to eat & eat & eat & eat again & cam-whoring (of course we couldnt miss this part out!).

Sis organized a bbq cum gathering on 28/11/09 for bro-in-law & her friends, and i too was invited. New friends were made, we laughed, ate (again!), sabo-ed the birthday & non-birthday people, in conclusion an event well planned.

The movie outing/gathering with them poly-reans on 05/12/09 was fantabulous. Edward was cute, Jacob was sizzling hot, the people around me was great and we had dinner at Spize River Valley followed by coffee laughter at Starbucks till the early morning. We HAVE to do it again people!

Then there was the arrival of my first extended niece on my mother's side. (This family relationship name-calling thing sounds complicated, i know!) Welcome to earth, welcome to the family Baby Aqil! And congrats to mummy Farhana and daddy Azhar on the arrival of the cutest lil thing!

I've been thinking about my birthday list for quite a while now & have been wondering when is the right time to post it up on my blog cause i do want it to be the latest entry till THE day. So i guess, today is the perfect date to put it up cause you people will have at least a week to decide on which item you would like to buy & futhermore there's still a weekend whereby you people could go out & get it! Haha! (sungguh tak malu!)

First of all, let me start off on what i want from my mok-ster. I was thinking/hoping of getting from him two red roses, each with a note. The first note says For the woman I love and the second, For my best friend. LIKE NOT! So mushy-pushy, I DON'T LIKE! Haha! GET REAL!

Okay, let's get back on track, the birthday list track!

Unlike my birthday list entry last year, this year i'm not going to state down what i want (cause its like soooOOO tak malu u know!), even though there's a lot of things in my head which I DO WANT FOR MY BIRTHDAY like......

1. "That" BONIA Handbag - Firstly, cause i want to use it for Raya & secondly having someone to buy "that" for me, the feeling is much muCH MUCH better! Mok-ster says it's too small (Pfft!), so did gf yana's hubby! (P/S: gf yana also wants to get "that" bag) So to have someone buying "that" for me would be like, "Even though you say it's small, i didn't buy it myself, someone gave it to me!" A win-win situation! Yay! Haha.

Or otherwise, if it's too small, i've decided to get "this" bag instead!
*cough*dear*cough*buy*cough*for*cough*me*cough*please*cough*

2. A MANGO watch - This thing, i want like eions ago, but have yet to fulfilled. Till recently, i had been frequently taking cab rides to work in the morning (due to lateness but most of the time lazyness, and cab rides are addictive!) which would burn a hole worthing $30 in my pocket, i had to convince myself to stop my addictions cause with 4 cab rides, I could get a MANGO watch! And up to date, i could have got many, maNY, MANY watchessss. As a form of motivation to wake up to work earlier, maybe someone could get a MANGO watch for me? Please?? *angelic eyes*

3. TIFFANY & CO. - For this, i have no good reason for wanting it. I just wants it for the sake of wanting it. Anything bought within the compound of TIFFANY & CO., is acceptable! Haha! (and by "anything" i mean accessories or jewels okay! not the paper bag or the box. WARNING first!) So if you do want to get something for me, click here for the link! Haha! *sweetest smile*

So much for not wanting to state down what i want huh! Lol! Birthdays come by like once a year you know! At least (i repeat eh: AT LEAST), i've stated only three things (and its not even like i'm asking for an LV bag or a Rolex watch, which would be much better actually!), there's lots more where that came from! Haha.

But there is one tiny weeny lil bit of something which i do want but i'm not really sure if i really wants IT cause i'm not even sure this thing that i want is for real or not! Understooded!? If your answer is "NO", don't bother. I'm not sure of it either.

Well oh well, age is catching up. Only time will tell. All i know is, patience have taken its toll. So i've set a target & is just hoping that IT will come true.

On a happier note, had iftar cum tahlil at bibik/paman's place. It's been quite a while since i've seen THE BOYS altogether, laughing & teasing each other, an entertaining bunch. The leader of it all, is the oldest of them all, the one & only, paman aka "Tok John". Haha.

They were all simply laughing their ass off talking about the future, what kind of kids will each of them have (amin's kids is the funniest, they bites. haha), what kind of wife will they have, what kind of husband will they be like, who will marry more than one (ahem *midun* ahem), etc etc. Anything & everything they could think of.

But for me, the highlight of the night, the sweetest & touching part of it all, is to see them all berjemaah solat maghrib for the first time. Baik anak-anak buah Tok John eh. Haha!

Costumes are the first impression that you have of the character before they open their mouth-it really does establish who they are.

Ya, i know. People say, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. But sight is one of the most important sense, and it transmits info directly to your brain and you can't stop it from doing so. Worst still, when they open their mouth and it doesn't get any better, negative sparks starts to evolve.

From there, i'll start to get irritated and bored and just feels that i could disappear in thin air right at that very moment. Regret that i even got myself into that position at that point of time.

Everything I do in my life is very instinctual and in the moment. If I'm attracted to something, that's it. If I have reservations, those don't change till they're resolved. My first impression is how I go.

First impressions do lasts. And when we're able to click from the very first moment, the second, third and future meet-ups, accidental or pre-planned would be a breeze. And for me, i'll get all excited and geared up.

On the other hand, I would also want to make a good first impression to others. Not trying to put myself in my own good books, but up to date i've not had or should i say made any bad first impression to others, regardless of how foolish i have turn myself into probably on the second, third etc etc meet-ups. No negative comments up till now, or maybe they're just being kept unsaid by others. haha.

The Unforeseen-ness

I love such random outings. With the BIG boy (aka dear) & the little boy (aka aiman, who always want to tag along even when he's not invited. hehe), not knowing where to go & suddenly we were at Spore Expo, wanting to have a look at the "Mega Raya Expo Sale" & get aiman his dosage of deng-deng (which was nowhere to be found btw). And when boredom strikes, we'll be driving to another last minute destination, initial plan was Ikea Tamp but instead we executed plan Courts Tamp. And when the lil boy starts to grumble due to hunger, we'll be aiming for Popeye's chicken, but once again change our destination to Simpang as the lil boy feels like eating rice. And finally, at the very last minute, there was not a single rice seen near him as he decided to have something else instead. pfft!

That's what lil brothers are for, to irritate you with their "cuteness"!

Luckily the BIG boy had some patience in him, and entertained the lil boy
all the way..

So we were hunting for the ladies around the huge ION. Then we were going up & down the see-through glass elevator at Orchard Central, trying our very best to pressed the 11th floor button & wanting to go to the roof-top which was on the 12th floor. But all plan failed. Why u may ask.. cause its not even open for public yet! Haha!

And when i say "we", i was referring to me & gf yana, two blurly, lost souls ( i repeat eh : two very BLURly, very LOST souls. hehe.) who were roaming around these two new shopping centre yesterday evening. Hehe.

Anyway, let me introduced to you to a new friend found:-

Why the splitting? Well basically she was just 4storey tall. Yes! her height i mean.
